Frequently Asked Questions

Questions to ask every Videographer you are looking at; and our answers to these questions.

How long have you been in business?

It is important to know how long a compnay has been in business when hiring talent for your wedding. Companies that have been around longer will offer more in terms of editing and will have better knowledge of a typical and non-typical wedding. This is important for camera angles, sound and preparedness. For example, a more experienced videographer will already be zoomed in for your first kiss. We have been filming freelance video for over 18 years and started our own company in 2001. We have since grown tremendously much due to word of mouth. Price may or may not give you an indication on the talent of different videographers.

Are you the videographer that will be at my wedding?

Some companies may take your money and book your wedding, but may not have an actual videographer hired for your wedding as close as three days before your big day! Make sure this is not the case before giving your deposit and signing a contract. We are a husband and wife team with four more experienced videographers to man extra cameras or as back up in emergencies. Upon hiring us, you will be sure of your main videographer and may even request/require one in particular. Additional camera operators may not be determined until a later date. Since your main videographer will be with you all day, you should make sure that it it someone that you are comfortable with. We recommend that you interview all videographers for this reason.

How many cameras do you use?

We use anywhere from one to four cameras depending on what coverage you are looking for. All cameras are manned to ensure that you get the best angles. Unmanned cameras are generally wide shots and footage may not be as emotional ie, no close up of couple during vows.

What kind of microphone do you use?

We have several different options for sound. We will almost always use a wireless lapel microphone or digital recorder that will be placed on the Groom. This will help receive the best sound for your vows, but not necessarilly everything else. This will also pick up any sound the groom makes and will be recorded. If your church has a sound system, we may ask if they can burn us a CD of the sound or a casette tape. This will eliminate almost all hiss and echo. We will use the best sound gathered from any of our sources on your video. We always check with your church coordinator or presider for placement restrictions.

Will my wedding be edited? Is this extra?

We fully edit all weddings to your liking at no additional cost.. We will provide you with an "Editing" list to have an idea of your likes and dislikes. You may not like sepia toned, or black and white. You may want more slow-motion and graphics. Each couple has a different view of what they expect their wedding video to look like. We recommend that as you are watching demonstration from various video companies, you take notes on your preferences. As most video companies, we do have some editing standards such as scrolling credits, music intro and wedding day montage. However, you can always have us deviate from this "script".

What format will we receive our final video on?

Each package or custom order will receive three complete copies on your choice of DVD-R, DVD+R, VHS or SVHS. Most common is DVD-R due to its compatibility with most DVD players. Each additional set of DVD's are $15.00. Additional VHS copies are $30.00. Most weddings (ie.most Catholic ceremonies) will require two DVD's; one of the ceremony and one of the reception. There is no extra cost if your wedding requires two DVD's.

Do you travel? What are your travel fees?

We do travel and most often will not charge an additional fee. As a standard, we will travel up to 100 miles from the Twin Cities at no additional cost. If your wedding is farther away, but there are no videographers in your area, we would assess distance, time of year, and if it would require an overnight stay. Most Each additional mile is $0.30.

Can we see a sample of your work?

Absolutely! We highly recommend that you take the time to meet with us. When meeting with us, we can show you recent weddings that would cater more to what your style is. You would also know at this time if you feel comfortable with us. If this is not an option for you (many of our couples are from out of state), we will send you a free demonstration video.

What do you charge?

We have created four packages based on what most couples are looking for. Starting with the Ceremony only with one camera to the more elaborate four camera all day coverage. If you have a budget, we can work with that. Many couples have a set dollar amount that we can cater to. You can view all pricing by clicking on "Packages". We also have ala carte options available which will give you an idea of how we customize. When customizing, it is to your benefit to meet with us to ensure all topics discussed are included on your contract.

How do we book with you? When is the balance due?

You will be given a Contract, Scene List and Editing List. However, to book your date, we require only the Contract back with a non-refundable deposit of $350.00. We understand that many couples like to take their time interviewing and watching demonstrations. It is our policy to try very hard to contact you if/when someone else is looking at the same date. This gives you a little more time without loosing out on your first choice. This, however is not guaranteed, so we recommend that you contact us if we are one of your "finalists".

We offer a discounted rate for Weddings at lease six months out if your payment is made in full at the time of booking and a lesser discount if your balance is paid three months prior to your wedding date. All final payments are to be received two weeks prior to your wedding.

When can we expect our video to be finished?

We guarantee all videos to be delivered within twelve weeks of your wedding date or the date we receive your final music and editing choices (Whichever is later). We respectfully request that couples not contact us for six weeks after this date (for a time frame) to make sure that your wedding does not have a "Hurry up" feeling to it.
